Since our founding in 2000, Rainbow World Fund's mission has been to promote peace, unity, and hope by leading the LGBTQ+ movement in participating in humanitarian relief efforts. Today is no different, and many of our LGBTQ+ brothers and sisters abroad are in desperate need of our help.
Theirs is a time of great insecurity and instability. They face state-sponsored terror, including public outings, loss of employment and housing, family rejection, arrests, rape, and torture.
In the Middle East and Afghanistan, RWF helps LGBTQ+ refugees escaping imminent threat in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria. Hundreds of refugees that RWF has helped now live in Canada, Europe and the USA.
In Uganda, RWF provides support to LGBTQ+ people by funding shelter, safe passage, legal aid and the medical needs of people fleeing danger.
In Ukraine, RWF helped evacuate LGBQT+ people and children to safety in Poland and is funding safe shelters and emergency aid to those who remain following Russia's full-scale invasion of the country in February 2022.
In India, RWF provides shelter and psychological support to transgender persons and survivors of human trafficking.
In Central America, RWF funds an underground railroad that helps transgender woman from El Salvador, Honduras, and Guatemala reach safety, build community, and establish new lives.
In El Salvador, RWF funds emergency shelter, food, clothing, psychological support, and legal aid to LGBTQ+ young people who have fled their homes, been kicked out, or have been deported.
Founded in 2000, RWF is the world’s first international LGBTQ+-based humanitarian aid organization. RWF donors and volunteers make a difference in the world by helping RWF fund projects benefiting LGBTQ+ and non-LGBTQ+ people affected by natural disasters, hunger, poverty, oppression, and war.
Our work shows the world that the LGBTQ+ community can be visible and compassionate, providing leadership in humanitarian efforts to help those in need, while building bridges with others around the world who also are working to heal our planet. RWF is 100% volunteer-run.
